ICS आमतौर पर इस लक्ष्य को हासिल करने के लिये नेट प्रौद्योगिकी का उपयोग करता है तथा DSL, Cabel, ISDN, Dial-up एवं Satellite सहित ज्यादातर तकनीको के साथ कार्य करता है ।
यह Device Modem तथा Broadband के साथ interface करता है तथा internet के लिये connection establishes करता है ।
जिसको ICS host या gateway कहा जाता है ; जब अन्य device internet पर network के माध्यम से connect होती है तो ICS host को ICS Client कहा जाता है ।
Internet Connection Share (ICS),Internet पर एक छोटे office network या home network से connect करने के लिये Window Server 2003 का उपयोग करने की अनुमति प्रदान करता है ।
ICS छोटे network पर सभी computers के लिये Network Address Translation (NAT), IP Addressing तथा Name Resolution Service प्रदान करता है ।
1) सर्वप्रथम Start पर click करके Control Panel पर जाते हैं तथा Network connection पर click करते हैं ।
2) इसके पश्चात Local Area Connection पर Right Click करते हैं, तथा इसको Rename करते हैं ।
3) Network and Dial-up connection dialog box, दो connection display होते हैं, The Internet connection तथा Local Area Connection.
4) इसके बाद Internet connection पर Right click करके property पर click करते हैं ।
5) इसके पश्चात General tab पर click करते हैं तथा इसके पश्चात Client को Microsoft Network तथा Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) के प्रदर्शन के लिये verify करते हैं ।
6) इसके पश्चात Advanced tab पर click करते हैं तथा इसके पश्चात check box में Enable Internet Connection Sharing for this connection के Select करने के लिये click करते हैं ।
7) इसके पश्चात Ok पर click करके DE में वापस आते हैं ।

How to Configure ICS Host Computer?
ICS Host Computer को Configure करने के लिये निम्न steps का पालन करते हैं
1) सर्वप्रथम Start पर click करके Control Panel पर जाते हैं तथा Network connection पर click करते हैं ।
2) इसके पश्चात Local Area Connection पर Right Click करते हैं, तथा इसको Rename करते हैं ।
